The winery was founded with a clear vision: to produce small-lot, terroir-driven, single vineyard wines with a focus on Rhône varietals. After spending years in Las Vegas running a nightlife promotions company called Prism Nightlife, Binko recognized that the hospitality and entertainment world was not where his true passion lay. That realization led him to relocate to Walla Walla and pursue winemaking full-time. Eternal Wines operated as a Washington State winery for eleven years before transitioning to Oregon winery status, now based in Milton-Freewater, OR — just 0.3 miles across the Washington border on Highway 11.\n\n## Winemaker\n\nBrad Binko serves as both owner and winemaker at Eternal Wines. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Binko attended Northeastern University and the University at Buffalo before completing the Enology and Viticulture program at Walla Walla Community College (WWCC), from which he graduated as a certified sommelier. Prior to winemaking, Binko ran fine dining wine programs in Charleston, SC — a formative chapter that deepened his wine knowledge before he transitioned into production. In 2017, Binko was awarded the prestigious Bill Powers Sabbatical, which granted him the opportunity to travel anywhere in the world to study winemaking and bring that knowledge back to Washington State. He chose Chile, where he traveled the country interviewing winemakers, growers, and sommeliers with a focus on Carménère. The trip was documented on film. In 2025, Binko was named Washington State Winemaker of the Year by the Washington State Wine Awards (formerly the Seattle Wine Awards), a distinction the winery itself notes with some irony given their recent transition to Oregon winery status.\n\nBinko's winemaking philosophy is rooted in minimal intervention. His approach centers on native fermentation, extended maceration, and non-intrusive winemaking techniques. He uses only hand-harvested fruit from premium vineyards and emphasizes single-vineyard expressions to capture distinct terroir.\n\n## Signature Wines & Varieties\n\nEternal Wines specializes in single vineyard Rhône varietals. Syrah is the winery's flagship variety — in 2016 alone, Binko produced ten different single-vineyard Syrah bottlings. The current lineup features five single-vineyard Syrahs, and the winery offers a Syrah-only tasting option for dedicated enthusiasts. White Rhône varieties are also a significant focus and are noted as among the winery's best sellers. These include single-vineyard bottlings of Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, and Grenache Blanc. The winery also produces an Albariño.\n\nEternal's sister label, Drink Washington State, is larger in production at approximately 2,500 cases per year. It focuses on blends sourced from individual Washington State AVAs and is positioned as an approachable, value-driven complement to the Eternal single-vineyard tier. The Drink Washington State Carménère has won best Carménère in the Pacific Northwest three of the last four years — a direct result of Binko's Chilean study trip. The label also produces a Carménère that has been recognized as best in the PNW.\n\n## Accolades\n\n- Brad Binko named **Washington State Winemaker of the Year, 2025** by the Washington State Wine Awards\n- **Bill Powers Sabbatical recipient, 2017**\n- Drink Washington State Carménère: **Best Carménère in the Pacific Northwest — 3 of the last 4 years**\n- Since 2020, Eternal Wines has been the **official wine of choice at the PGA Golf Annual Meeting** held in Florida each January\n- The tasting room has been referred to as the **\"Hard Rock Cafe of wineries\"** by visitors\n\n## Tasting Room & Visitor Experience\n\nThe Eternal Wines tasting room is located in Milton-Freewater, OR, positioned just inside the Oregon border on Highway 11. The tasting room is open seven days a week, with adjusted winter hours, and opens early on Sundays at 9:30am for NFL football. The space is designed to be distinctly social and community-oriented, featuring seven flat-screen televisions that broadcast up to seven simultaneous NFL games, as well as UFC fights, boxing, and other major sporting events. The venue has a 10-seat bar, a 56-seat outdoor patio, and can accommodate large groups — up to 700 people for private events.\n\nThe experience extends well beyond wine. Eternal serves beer and cider on tap, bottles, and cans, with a rotating selection. Weekly wine slushies are offered, and the winery hosts trivia nights on Wednesdays, karaoke, and live music events throughout the year. A food truck — Memo's Tacos — is on site six days a week (closed Tuesdays), operating from 9:30am to 7pm. The winery also hosts seasonal events including a Beats & Bites concert and food truck series, holiday barrel tastings, spring and fall releases, late-night dance parties, corporate events, and wedding receptions. The estate includes table grapes in a vineyard on premises.\n\n## Winery Character\n\nEternal Wines occupies a distinctive and unconventional niche in the Walla Walla Valley wine scene. While deeply serious about single-vineyard, terroir-driven winemaking — particularly for Rhône varieties — the tasting room experience is deliberately inclusive, lively, and entertainment-forward. The winery embraces its identity as a gathering place for the local community as much as a destination for wine enthusiasts. Eternal also offers custom wine label design services starting at just 14 cases, serving corporate clients and brands such as iHeartRadio. The winery publicly supports the LGBTQ+ community and donates a portion of proceeds from Pride merchandise to local youth organizations. Two winery dogs — Chloe and Otis — are fixtures of daily life at the estate, carrying on a tradition started by Picasso, the original winery dog.","somm_notes":[{"title":"Patti's notes on Eternal","content":"If Syrah is your jam, you're going to love this spot.
